What began as a small Facebook group in 2023 — created by Meghan while she was recovering from surgery and craving a safe, inclusive space to discuss books — has grown into a thriving community of gals, gays, theys, and every book-loving soul in between. Here, every genre is welcome, every opinion is respected, and we never yuk anyone’s yum. From romance readers to fantasy fanatics, thriller addicts to non-fiction lovers, there’s a place for everyone on our shelves.

Our slogan, “Bound by books, lifted by community,” perfectly captures what makes Gals Who Read Australia so special. Beyond the online group chats and reading threads, members gather in person all over the country — forming friendships, swapping paperbacks, and turning shared stories into real-life connection.
